Keep Mangonui Ataahua

Mangonui is a ataahua place to live. It is one of the prettiest harbours in the world. In
the harbour there lived a great big shark. The shark showed Moehuri how to get here. Mangonui is a special place so we to want to keep it ataahua.

Stop using single use plastic because it pollutes the ocean. The fish will eat the plastic and when people eat the fish, they will get really sick.

Stop using plastic bags because turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish.  When the turtles eat the plastic bags they will get really sick and  die. Sometime later, there will be no more turtles if you keep buying plastic bags so don’t buy plastic.

So don’t litter. If you litter you are not kaitiaki to Papatuanuku. Don’t litter or the ocean will look like a dead zone.

Rona

A long long time ago there lived a lovely lady called Rona.  And she was
so so sooo beautiful because her eyes sparkled like crystals and her
hair was like ribbons in the wind. Rona was a mum. Rona is a very
angry lady and Rona made ever one sad when Rona is angry. She
had a husband and two boys. One day the husband said “I'm just
going to the bay to fish. The boys will have fun.”  When we come
back the hangi must be ready for me and the doy’s and you. So,
Rona got the hangi ready but She stopped because she ran out
of water. She ran down the path it became darker and darker and
darker. When it went darker and then Rona stubbed her toe. “I will
boil your head “Rona shouted. The moon grabbed Rona by her hips.
When she went up she held onto the ngaio tree and her water bottle.
When the husband got back the hangi was on fire. Then the boys
looked up and there was Rona in the moon holding the ngaio tree
and water bottle.

Mangonui Harbour

The water is sparkling like the little sprats in the water. The water
sparkles like the stars in the sky. Mangonui harbour is a good
place to fish. The water is ice cold when I go swimming with the
little shiny sprats in the  deep sea.
